Our Annual Vegas Couples Only Weekend

So every year for the past five years ( I can't believe we have been doing this for this long so far ) we get together with some of our friends for a couples only weekend. We have some property in Beaver Dam Arizona, which is 9 miles this side of mesquite. Only 90 miles from Vegas and 22 miles from St. George. We absolutely love it there. This year we had to make an acception to the couples only thing because we had two ladies with a babies and one lady pregnant. We still had a realy good time. I arrived first Thursday night..I had to meet Jason down there because he was in Los Angeles that week for work. When I had arrived my Momma had laid out artificial rose petals and candies and strung heart garland on the beds in the house..She was down there the weekend before with my Grand Parents. What a fun little surprise, she is always doing something like this. She is GREAT! Friday Dustin and Darlene left home at 4:30 in the morning to meet us and then later we met Jared and Aspen in St. George later that afternoon. We had a late lunch or what you call an early dinner for all of the retiree's that live down there at Chuck A Rama. I swear we were the only young people there and had the only babies in the whole place. After our early dinner us ladies were ditched by the guys which was just fine. We went to the mall. I haven't been to the mall in I don't know how long? Then we mwt back up with the guys at the house and instead of staying up late like we have in the past we turned in early..Maybe we are getting old? Saturday we loaded up in Jared and Aspen's cruiser ( VAN ) we had fun cramming into the speedy thing. We went to lunch at the buffet in the Orlean's hotel and casino. ( Jason and I happened to stumble upon this place a year or so ago and have tried to make it there when we can. )
The food was great as usual, they have 7 different food stations, you know mexican, chinese, american, etc.

Later we drove over to the Hoover Dam.
Something that we hadn't done before.
It was a little windy but a nice bright day..no smog.
They have been working on bridge to go over the Dam
for I think 3 years now. We saw the start of it on Modern Marvels...
It is quite spectacular, the bridge and the Dam.
I think they say that some of the concrete has actually never dried all the way.
We would have done the tour but the babies were not allowed.

This is Dustin and Darlene.
This was their Second time joining us this year.
We didn't think that they were going to make it.
We are glad that they took time out from the all
the hussle and bussle and joined us. I know that
they enjoyed themselves.

I had to get a picture of them leaning over the
edge looking down. I am not fond of heights so
I stayed back a bit until I could get a little more
comfortable with my surroundings. It is quite a
long ways down.

I am sure we will go back to visit the Hoover Dam next year, I would be interested in seeing the progress of the bridge and maybe if I can get the guts, we will do a helicopter ride over the Dam?

Tyler was a pretty good sport about being lugged around.
He is the only kid that we have taken to couples only weekend. I hope he remembers the good time we had. He seemed so big in that stroller...we had to prop him up so he could look around at everything. He and Brynlie had fun staring at eachother and making noise together.

After the Dam, we drove back into Vegas and did our
normal routine of the New York New York so the guys
could do the roller coaster and we wondered on down to
the M&M factory to get the kiddies who were left back
home a prize, which I am not allowed to come back home
with out a bright yellow bag with goodies in it. I tried to hide
in there for a while but was hunted down so we could move
on to the Mandalay Bay to the Shark reef. It was realy neat.
The setting is some what like a jungle, it was dark, it had glass
tunels that you walk thru so you are surrounded by water and
at the end you come to a sunken ship atmosphere with eerie boat
sounds.
Our last stop before heading back to the house was to do the
nascar roller coaster at the Saraha. I opted not to go because
I was a woosie..what I couldn't leave my baby.
( I did have a pregnant lady to dump him on. )
I have gone on it before and I tried to get Aspen to go to
but she woosed out just like I did. What happens is you just
sitting there waiting to see what happens and without any
warning you are at a speed of 60 0r 70 mph in a matter of
seconds and thrown thru a looped dee loop and a cork screw
and given another jolt of speed and then shot up on the track
staring at the stars to be dropped back down to do it all again
but only back wards...quite a thrill.

We arrived back to the house around 1 am and again the
oldness was set in and we headed off to bed. I think I can
speak for every one that again we had a realy good time
and even though we didn't do as much and had kids with
us atleast we got away. Which was definetly needed. I do
hope that the rest of our crew wich is about 6 other couples
will be able to join us next year.

Hey Tawnie! I think you are so funny. I'm going to enjoy reading your blog. I'm really starting to get into this.
Can I put you on my link list?

It wouldn't let me leave a comment on your easter bunny post. I need to take my kids sometime this week! I can't believe that it wasn't the real easter bunny - I thought for sure it was!
