These were just some of the pic's I took.
We went to the zoo on the 24th ( ya that long ago!! ). Jason parents go the zoo every 24th of July while every one else is at the parade, then it's not so crowded. This year a few of us were able to join them. ( we hadn't been able to go with them since Jason was a month old ) We really enjoyed it. What I enjoyed most is playing hookie from work ;)
The year's past I hadn't been too impressed with the zoo, I miss the hippo's and all of the tiger's. I do like the new displays I guess you would call them but I just remember so much more as a kid? This time was different we got more involved and attended a bird show. It was great. It was the most time we had spent there and the kids were really good even though it got hot really fast. Thanks to Aspen she bought a squirt bottle/fan combo and her girls made sure they got every one cooled down.
Later on that day Aspen was willing to spend the rest of what remained of it with us and we followed her out to Herriman along with Larkyn and played at the free splash pad there ( see her post for pic's, I was too lazy to take any )
What a great day off..

Cute file

This was the best paperwork I had all day. Even though it was mostly messy. I didn't mind pulling the same file out over and over. He is so much fun!

Camping!!!

After seeing all of the fun tent spots that you can pull into after our drive up Butter field canyon we decided to go up this past Friday after work and invite Jared and his girls. It was the first time in 2 years that we have been able to go this way. Usually my sense of dry camping is going in my trailer ( my home away from home ) and have no hook ups..don't get me wrong I really enjoy ruffing it. It was a bit off work for just one night but it was kind of a breaking the kids in, you know practicing for our next one..which will be 2 nights. It was sort of sad telling the kids that they could get dirty all they want and convincing the girls that they weren't princesses and didn't need to worry about clean clothes. We did pack plenty of wipes so we could clean faces and hands. I really think that the kids enjoyed it. It was the perfect spot.

When the sun went down the MEN built a fire and Aspen brought stuff for Smore's, they were yummy..I had four =). We gathered sticks and Jason shaved down the ends so we could roast the marshmallows. It was a clear night and you could see plenty of stars and it was nearly a full moon.

Before we could get out of tents Saturday morning Jared and to spook the cattle out of the camp ground. Then Big Jason made a big breakfast, it was sooo good. I don't know what it is but food always tastes better with a camp fire or Coleman stove. I think it was the best pancakes I have ever eaten. It warmed up quickly and the Daddys climbed back in the tents to take a nap while the Mommy's watched the kids ( please use sarcasm when reading that last sentence, I typed it with sarcasm. ) We were a nearby stream..not a scary one so once again we had to convince the kids to get in and get muddy and get wet..what is with these kids? ( Oh and the stream was so nice to listen to when going to sleep...That's only if you couldn't hear Brynlie screaming, the poor girl and Aspen had a very rough night ). It was great that the kids could use their imaginations and had liked that they had to hunt for sticks for the fire. I know they get wrapped up in worldly possessions just like grown ups do and I think that this was a little bit of a humbling experience.
Overall I really enjoyed myself and I know that the kids did too, I would have liked to have taken a nap in the tent, that has happened since Girls camp but we wanted to make it back to the Summer Social that the Ward was doing. Next time we are going to try and get a weekend planned in advanced so that all of the South's can join us.

Sunday Drive

A couple of weeks ago ( ya I know..bad, I am a little behind on blogging ) Jason took us up Butter field canyon. It is so nice that it is so close. We drove all of the way to the top and it turns out that you can see the whole valley and also deep into the pits of the Copper Mines. The scenery of all the green trees, wild flowers and streams oh and the Mountain smell was wonderful. It only took a half hour to get to the top..and just from home.
